Description

There's a little story behind this, actually. Feel free to skip it though.

Last spring I attended a painting class at school. I really enjoyed everything we did there and even if I'm not much of a painter, I love painting. But at the time being in school was really hard for me, because I got these massive headaches ALL THE TIME. I remember (not clearly though 'cause those headaches affected my memory a bit) being away from school and just sleeping in my dark room nonstop for almost two weeks. A bit later I got a diagnosis of migraine and it's basically going to affect me for the rest of my life. It was a bit of a shock since I had never had anything like it before, but apparently it can start suddenly, just like that.

Anyway, I was nervous at first about going to that painting class because for me the major problem that causes me migraine are all kinds of strong smells and I though the paints we used at the class were going to give me a headache. Luckily that never happened and I got to paint which made me really happy. And all my teachers were super-understanding about my headaches and how I sometimes had to be away a lot because of them.

Well it turned out that the teacher in that painting class had migraine too. We talked about it a bit and I felt so good because someone understood me (I've gotten a lot of comments like "It's just a headache, how bad can it be?" and believe me it's frustrating trying to explain that migraine isn't the kind of headache that just nags you a little bit and then goes away...). Then I randomly just painted something and it came out like this and my teacher said: "You know what? I think this is a painting about your migraine and how it feels like." And even though I had painted this quite randomly without thinking I began to feel like that too.

This painting kind of symbolises the way I feel about migraine and how it is because aside from smells another major problem for me is bright light which is actually what caused the very first migraine I ever had.

I used to have a migraine one a week for a long time. No remedy helped. Only staying in a dark, very quiet room, with a cool rag on my forehead. As I got older, they got to be less and less. Now, I only get them rarely. Mostly when I am very tied and/or upset greatly.
That is what I hope for you. That they go away for good.

Looking at your painting MIGRAINE, makes me think of the bright light that always came at the peak of the pain in my migraines. Before this bright radiating light there were always little flashes of light and nauseousness.

Your painting is right on the mark. Your teacher was right in her judgment.

Again, great job ~ I like your interpretation extremely much.
